We should talk about the time I went out for milk. In May, when green happens and afternoons start to stretch and yawn — that really is the golden time for cookies.

There are two sure-fire ways to draw a smile. A chocolate chip cookie is one way. The other way? It has nothing to do with food — it has nothing to do with sugar. The other way is riding a bicycle. Despite what you think, that is not a euphemism.

It was Albert Einstein who proved that one cannot be sad when riding a bicycle — among other things.

Yes, I know. It doesn’t take 12 hours to run an errand. But it did this time. I know you didn’t get to eat your cookies. That’s sad. That’s why I’m writing.
